Medtronic Infuse Bone Graft Lawsuit
A bio-engineered product used in spinal and jaw surgery, Medtronic Infuse Bone Graft has been associated with a higher risk of cancer than was previously thought when patients are treated with a high dose of the controversial protein.  Especially when Infuse is used in off-label procedures, patients may be at a higher risk for stomach, thyroid, skin, breast, lung, ovarian, leukemia, laryngeal, prostate, pancreatic, and lymphoma cancers.  Another Medtronic product that carries a higher dose of rhBMP-2, Amplify, was rejected for approval by the FDA because of its strong link to cancer.  Unfortunately, it is known that rhBMP-2 is used in even higher doses than that found in Amplify for a number of off-label procedures.
